Rules & Responsibilities

  • 1.) Remove any debris from the sink screens.

2.) Decant the water in the buckets on the floor and in the sink, as well as any water left in the mop buckets. It is normal for the water to drain slowly and will take a while.

    • Make sure to keep your shelf area clean. Wipe down the outside cloth when it gets dirty. Pass the mop under your ware and clay shelf.

    • Rinse the glaze mats after usage. Place the extra stainless steel bowl by the red recycle bowl in the sink to catch the glaze runoff. Decant into the red recycle bowl first if necessary.

    • If your shelf is full, you must glaze and stop producing to keep the rotation of the firing in sequence.

    • The last person to mop is to decant mop water into the sink and the dirtiest water from it into the floor buckets.

    • Check that all wheels are turned off.

    • Check that the air conditioning is turned off.

    • Check that all doors are locked and windows are closed.

    • Check that all equipment is in the proper places, tables and counters are wiped, and glazes are covered.

    • Turn off the lights except for the one by the entrance to the door.

    • Wheels and work tables are first come first serve.

    • Cleaning is a necessary part of each pass and open studio time. Ensure you give enough time to clean before leaving, at least 30 minutes when you have a wheel to clean.

    • It’s encouraged to share ideas, techniques, tips, wisdom, and skills but refrain from harsh criticism unless requested.

    • Consensus for Audio Devices. Prioritize respect and consensus when using communal audio devices such as the radio, wireless speakers or google chromecast on the TV.

    • Be Mindful of Volume: When making or receiving calls, avoid loud or lengthy conversation and step outside or to the back if needed to avoid distraction

    • Use of Headphones and Media - If you wish to watch instructional videos on personal media devices, please use headphones to ensure the sound doesn't disturb anyone.

    • Respect Headphone Usage - If someone chooses to use headphones rather than engage, understand they may be deeply focused on their work. Don't take this personally and respect their need for concentration.
